Is There A Privacy Backdoor In Bitcoin XT?

Forkers, we're not raising a single byte!

In cryptoland, cypherpunks get clever Belief in freedom switches off never
So long as nodes are run, bitcoin stays untorn Six an hour, new blocks are born
To honest miners, new coins are bestow Going above 21 million is a no

[chorus x2] Forkers, we're not raising a single byte! The block size limit must stay finite!

Giga-blocks were what you desired Did you realise the core devs would be fired?
You wanted blacklists, and blocks that are enormous Did you give a single thought to performance?
But your plan will not come to fruition True bitcoiners wont give up their mission

[chorus x2]

Mike blogged to you, he's a good presenter But his real aim was bitcoin with a center
Reddit shills with many a persona Would hand the code over to some stoner
With 2 MB you sought to appease But true bitcoiners don't give up with ease

[chorus x2]

All the trolling, backroom dealing and rogue agents Caused even gmaxwell to lose his patience
Some miners thought they could push us around So Luke wrote a new PoW to shut them down
Core devs, we support you, finish the job Don't let bitcoin become ruled by the mob

[chorus x2]

This was written at the height of the block size hard fork conflict a few months ago. I don't pretend to have any particular skill with writing verses but it was definitely a fun little project.

Bitcoin XT and blacklist.

Hi,
In a /bitcoin someone brought up that bitcoin XT come with some blacklisting feature, seriously damaging fungibility.
I have seen nothing on this on internet.. I suspect it's just gross manipulation,
But I would like to have your opinions on this,

Bitcoin XTs Tor IP blacklist downloading system has significant privacy leaks. | F L | Aug 18 2015

F L on Aug 18 2015:
Bitcoin XT contains an unmentioned addition which periodically downloads
lists of Tor IP addresses for blacklisting, this has considerable privacy
implications for hapless users which are being prompted to use the
software. The feature is not clearly described, is enabled by default,
and has a switch name which intentionally downplays what it is doing
(disableipprio). Furthermore these claimed anti-DoS measures are
trivially bypassed and so offer absolutely no protection whatsoever.
Connections are made over clearnet even when using a proxy or
onlynet=tor, which leaks connections on the P2P network with the real
location of the node. Knowledge of this traffic along with uptime metrics
from bitnodes.io can allow observers to easily correlate the location and
identity of persons running Bitcoin nodes. Denial of service can also be
used to crash and force a restart of an interesting node, which will
cause them to make a new request to the blacklist endpoint via the
clearnet on relaunch at the same time their P2P connections are made
through a proxy. Requests to the blacklisting URL also use a custom
Bitcoin XT user agent which makes users distinct from other internet
traffic if you have access to the endpoints logs.

The "blacklisting TOR" feature in Bitcoin XT and Australian ISPs

To illustrate the danger of that certain feature which is being called "Anti-DoS attack improvements" I replaced TOR with "Australian ISP" in the text from https://bitcoinxt.software/patches.html in the following and added the text in italics:
It's currently possible to jam a Bitcoin node by connecting to it repeatedly via different IP addresses, as there is a fixed limit on how many connections a node will accept. Once full, no other peers or wallets can connect to it any more and serving capacity for new nodes and P2P wallets is reduced. If the attack is repeated against every node, the entire network could become jammed.
This patch set introduces code that runs when a node is full and otherwise could not accept new connections. It labels and prioritises connections according to lists of IP ranges: if a high priority IP address connects and the node is full, it will disconnect a lower priority connection to make room. Currently Australian ISPs are labelled as being lower priority than regular IP addresses, as jamming attacks via Australian ISPs have been observed, and most users/merchants don't use Australian ISPs. In normal operation this new code will never run. If someone performs a DoS attack via Australian ISPs, then legitimate Australian ISP users will get the existing behaviour of being unable to connect, but mobile and home users will still be able to use the network without disruption, except of course for Australian ISP users cause as everyone knows Australian ISP users are likely to be up to no good cause why would a normal person connect through Australian ISPs.
Please Note: I am using Australia as an example. The fact that Australia started out as a penal colony is purely a coincidence. It's just that Australia is the first country that came to mind when I was looking for a country to use.
