How to Backup Your Bitcoin Wallet on Your Android Device ...

The state of cryptocurrency in China. If anyone tells you otherwise, they are lying.

It's been a while since I outlined the state of cryptocurrency in China, but I should probably tell you guys why this is important first: Journalists will do anything to shill you their "news" so they can get their sponsor dollars. Crypto YouTubers who comment on the story without reading the original news story or transpiration of events in Chinese further distort this message. With that out of the way, let's dive in to free knowledge.
-Mining is just fine, so long as miners have all of their documents properly registered. The Chinese government thinks, "Whatever, sell this stuff to foreigners. We'll gladly let more USD flow in to our economy in exchange for thin air." -Most Chinese-owned exchanges set up offices abroad, usually in Singapore. Some have dev teams in Malaysia / Taiwan. -The Chinese government hasn't really out-right BANNED crypto ownership as far as I know, but they have certainly made it very difficult to own it. Which leads me to these two points: -I tried sending an APK file for an android phone wallet app to an American buddy of mine and his Chinese-made phone with a specialized Chinese distro of android would not allow him to install it. He sent me a screenshot that showed his phone basically displayed, "Unable to install application." or something similar. -I wouldn't be surprised to learn that Chinese-made distros of Windows, Linux, or Macintosh-specific operating systems do not allow users to install wallets to their desktops either - but I have not verified this. -These last two points can be circumvented by buying phones and operating systems made for foreign countries on China's ebay equivalent, Taobao. -There have been previous court-rulings where bitcoin was recognized as PROPERTY. -My view is that the CCP's attitude is, "Less crypto, less headache. Turn it in to USD and bring it in to China." -I would not be surprised to learn that later down the road the CCP makes a list of present cryptocurrencies that may be bought and sold legally in China in the future. I would only be shocked if bitcoin were not on that list. -It is commonplace for employees of exchanges to get paid in crypto in China. This is usually done with a stablecoin. -I have an undergraduate degree in Chinese and previously worked for a Chinese-owned exchange. This is where my knowledge comes from. -Everything listed here to this point in time should be treated like "law" unless Xi Jinping himself or another government official say otherwise in the near future.
Any questions? Fire away.

I started working with Ethereum and Bitcoin while pursuing my Bachelors in CS, got into a well-paying job in Samsung as software dev, left it to work on my Crypto security startup, Cypherock, with the aim of eliminating fear of loss of Crypto for mass adoption.
Hello everyone, I am Rohan Agarwal! I heard the word 'Bitcoin' for the first time around 2013-2014 but it didn’t creep up on the top of my mind until 2017.
It was during my college days in 2017 when I was mostly working on android apps and attending hackathons to satisfy the competitive edge in me that I met my friend and CTO of Cypherock - Vipul through a mutual friend. During the same time, I went down the crypto rabbit hole after being bugged by the idea of decentralisation. During the 2017 bull run, I was continuously researching and trading Bitcoin, Ethereum and various cryptocurrencies while conducting workshops, writing blogs about the space.
At the height of the 2017 bull market, I found that one of my friends couldn't recover his recovery phrase kept safe on paper due to an unfortunate house fire. At the same time, another one of the colleagues had kept his 24 word mnemonic phrase as a screenshot on his phone which got lost when the phone was corrupted. That's when I realized the need for a secure hardware wallet + with a recovery solution that caters to both data loss and data theft problems without a single point of failure.
To facilitate mass adoption, it is necessary that -
  1. Regular, non tech savvy people should be able to use and secure crypto without the fear of losing it.
  2. The solution to secure and recover crypto should be a non-custodial solution and the support should be open to all assets.
This was the belief that gave birth to Cypherock. Current hardware wallets secure the crypto but the unencrypted seed phrase on the paper becomes a single point of attack. We believe that seed phrases deserve the same level of security that your private keys have.
So, we used 2 of 4 Shamir Secret Sharing (with the option to change the threshold in future) along with tamper-resistant hardware to secure your private keys. Simply put, it is like Multi-sig but for your wallet recovery phrase. Practically, it’s much easier to use than multi-sig, if implemented correctly. Even Coinbase uses Shamir Secret Sharing to secure their own assets.
More on what we developed
- Each shard will be stored in a EAL6+ tamper resistant secure element chips. As comparison, your iPhone has the same level of security chip for securing fingerprints.
- Nothing will be stored in the X1 Wallet on which the computation will be done.
- Keys can be recovered by tapping any 2 out of the 4 cyCards on the X1 Wallet. Each cyCard can also be protected by a PIN just like your hardware wallet. The recovered keys are stored in a volatile memory on the X1 Wallet which gets wiped out as soon as the operation is done.
- You can store 3 wallet recovery phrases in a single product.
- The cyCards can be distributed around different places to increase security of the funds and protect against $5 wrench attacks.
What this means is without the knowledge of location of atleast 2 cyCards and the PIN, it is impossible for the hackers to steal your assets. We'll be able to support multiple blockchains (read: coins) using this along with other digital assets like your passwords, secrets, non Blockchain private keys etc. You can secure the cards by distributing it among trusted people or keeping it secure in different places that only you know of.
https://preview.redd.it/z259ydi5auj41.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=c110361d35ac82647c21da50264fcaee923fbc65
It has been a hell of a ride to provide an optimal solution for the mnemonic phrase/seed phrase recovery issue, without compromising the security of the user or the ownership of the assets.
We recently got backed by Consensys which was a high point for us. It has been a huge journey for us coming from India, where blockchain or the related hardware isn't that big with consumers yet.
The product is in the testing phase and we have started with the pre-orders. You can book one today with >50% off and if you don’t like it, we will give you a full refund, no questions asked.
Small Example to show how it works:
  1. You entegenerate your mnemonic phrase on the device or any other sensitive information like passwords.
  2. You tap four cyCards on the device to make 4 shards of your phrases. You'll need any 2 of them to recover your keys or perform a transaction.
  3. The cyCards can be stored at different locations or kept with different people for security.
  4. It can solve the issue with inheritance too with proper management of keys. (PM or comment to know more on this).
  5. To conduct a transaction, tap 2 cards on the device. The keys will be generated on the X1 Wallet for the transaction in a volatile memory which will be wiped off once the transaction is done (no current generation wallet has this). This allows for the hardware to have similar security as of multi-sig with the possible support of every asset.
Any feedback appreciated.
TLDR: With the dream of making storage of seed phrase an easy solution for everyone, started out with Cypherock and in the process found out a solution for removing single point of failure and a way for easy crypto inheritance. Would love any help from the community to take this further.
If anyone would like to see the device functioning, they can refer to the following videos:

Tkeycoin — security, that’s what we’re betting on

Tkeycoin — security, that’s what we’re betting on
Today we will talk about the security of using the Tkeycoin platform and the TKEYSPACE mobile blockchain wallet.
Tkeycoin is a peer-to-peer payment system based on p2p principles and the concept of electronic cash. P2P technology is a fairer means of mutual settlements between users and companies around the world. Modern payment systems are imperfect and may depend on the will of high-ranking officials.
We approached the market from an economic and scientific point of view, borrowing the best from Bitcoin, Ethereum, DASH, and other alternative currencies, mixing modern concepts and building on the global experience of IBM, Microsoft and a number of other companies and research.
The Tkeycoin blockchain is protected by various mechanisms that include advanced cryptographic methods and mathematical models of behavior and decision-making. Blockchain technology prevents duplication or destruction of digital assets.

https://i.redd.it/idy42g9rntx41.gif
In addition to providing security and recording transactions in registers, cryptography also plays a role in ensuring the security of wallets used to store Tkeycoin. Paired public and private keys, which respectively allow users to receive and send payments, are created using asymmetric encryption or public-key cryptography. Public keys are used to generate digital signatures for transactions, which allows you to authenticate ownership of the coins being sent.

https://i.redd.it/95yuky0tntx41.gif
The asymmetric cryptography architecture does not allow anyone other than the owner of the private key to access funds stored in the cryptocurrency wallet, so these funds are kept safe until the owner decides to spend them.
In simple words, in the Tkeycoin peer-to-peer system, only you are the real owner of your money and only You have access to it.
Using tools such as a local Tkeycoin Core wallet or TkeySpace provides you with reliable storage, privacy, and security.
TkeySpace, in turn, adds maximum usability by combining the highest level of security and easy intuitive design.

https://i.redd.it/f0de51vuntx41.gif

How does TKEYSPACE provide security?

TKEYSPACE is one of the first applications that support blockchain in a mobile device and is also the first decentralized application of the TKEY platform.
Its serverless architecture provides the highest level of security for storing all assets in the application. unlike centralized applications that are managed by companies, TkeySpace does not have a Central management authority and operates in accordance with all the principles of peer-to-peer networks.

https://preview.redd.it/4bret8hwntx41.png?width=1253&format=png&auto=webp&s=535c5d879a36eac4ca8c807ee7af1b5fe05e12a9
As we said above, the wallets in the blockchain have a public and private key. Centralized applications usually store users ‘private keys on their servers, which makes users’ funds vulnerable to hacker attacks or theft.
TkeySpace-stores the encrypted key only on the user’s device and in encrypted form. The encrypted key is displayed as a mnemonic phrase (backup phrase), which is very convenient for users. Unlike complex cryptographic ciphers, the phrase is easy to save or write. The backup phrase provides the maximum level of security and thanks to its usual appearance, an attacker is unlikely to ever guess what these words are and what they are for.
A mnemonic phrase is 12 or 24 words that are generated using random number entropy. If the phrase consists of 12 words, then the number of possible combinations is 2048¹² or 211³² — the phrase will have 132 security bits. To restore the wallet, you must enter the mnemonic phrase in the strict order as it was presented after generation.
And so that you do not get confused in the definitions and concepts, we will briefly describe simple and clear principles of how it all works. Let’s look briefly at the factors.

Lock Screen

The simplest thing that protects your phone from unauthorized access is Pincode, a snake, a fingerprint or a Face Id login. And it would seem that this is related to TKEYSPACE?
https://i.redd.it/sspjjsgyntx41.gif
  • At a minimum, it is almost impossible to open new mobile devices and pick up a pin code, even in the case of theft, most often the factory settings are reset, which leads to the deletion of all data on the phone, respectively-your funds are safe even for this reason.
  • Even if there was some “craftsman” and somehow managed to change the pin code on your device, the TKEYSPACE app will automatically delete all the keys and backup phrases, the wallet will simply be empty, and the attacker will be left with nothing.
As we can see, even a simple screen lock with a pin or fingerprint protects your data. It’s not as simple a screen lock as you and I might think.
Every platform, whether it’s Android or AppStore, uses specialized key stores. Cryptography, symmetric and asymmetric encryption, keys, and certificates are directly related to this task.
Keys and certificates that are used to protect information must also be securely protected. Android uses Keystore, a certificate and a Keystore, for this purpose.
Keystore is a specialized secret data store that is used by Java applications to encrypt, authenticate, and establish HTTPS connections.
For two-way authentication, the client and server exchange certificates, respectively, and the server and client must have a Keystore with a private/public key pair and a certificate. In other words, the Keystore is used to store keys and certificates that are used to identify the key owner (client or server).
Starting with Android 8, the encryption systems have been upgraded, the system is checked for signs of hacking at startup, and the screen lock allows you to restrict access to the device. Data encryption and the use of keys ensure the security of information when it is stored and transmitted.

https://i.redd.it/2c0b9re1otx41.gif
In the new version of the OS — Android 9 (Pie) — the developers also added support for hardware to protect against unauthorized changes.
Android apps run in an isolated software environment that restricts access to your information to other apps. OS components are also protected, which prevents attackers from exploiting system errors for their purposes.
Android uses both hardware and software to protect users and their data. Therefore, even at the operating system level, there are a lot of security factors. Of course, if you “flash” the phone (change the factory firmware) and enable Root access, this will reduce the security of Your device, but this is more an exception than a rule and such changes are usually introduced by very experienced users.
IOS uses Keychain — a specialized database for storing metadata and confidential information. Using a Keychain is the best practice for storing small pieces of data that are critical to your apps, such as secrets and passwords. In addition to the Keychain, Apple provides a full range of maximum protection for Your device.
And so we will continue,

Passcode in the app

Now we understand that to get access to the tools, an attacker needs to hack the hardware security of the Google and Apple giants to somehow get access to the app, which is impossible.
To increase security and eliminate other risk factors, we have included an access code (secret code) in the app.
You set an additional level of security by enabling a pin code to log in to the app. The access code additionally encrypts all data stored in the app.
Just so you understand — it’s not just numbers that you enter on the screen, this combination affects the ciphers inside the app. When creating a key, a user interface element is called. when the user swipes the screen, the application receives a random set of bytes — thus, all information is additionally covered by a new layer of cryptography.
And as we said above, if you try to disable the pin code, the app will delete all the data, and the attacker will be left with nothing.
As we have already realized, only 2 of these factors provide the maximum level of security for the TKEYSPACE application.
And the most important thing is that the application runs on the blockchain, which guarantees its full Autonomous operation, data immutability, and privacy.
Generation of new addresses, absence of accounts, phone numbers, e-mail and other personal data-provides you with a social level of security, which is a huge advantage in our time.
In a world where security is based on the level of cryptography, attackers try to influence You with the human factor using social engineering, so when you use applications with accounts, phone numbers, you have more risks.
Social engineering is a method of obtaining the necessary access to information based on the characteristics of human psychology.
For example, a copy of a SIM-card has become a new tool for fraudsters, but there is no personal information in TKEYSPACE, so even such groups of fraudsters can’t get access to your funds.

You don’t have to worry about security — it’s already built into the TKEYSPACE system.

A mixed encryption system based on the principles of computational complexity, with the deterministic generation of signatures using elliptic curves, provides absolute security and safety of user funds, and reserve phrases will help you restore funds at any moment.
A mnemonic phrase is 12 or 24 words that are generated using the entropy of random numbers.
If the phrase consists of 12 words, then the number of possible combinations is 2048¹² or 211³² — the phrase will have 132 security bits. To restore the wallet, you must enter the mnemonic phrase in the strict order as it was presented after generation.
Only you and no one else has access to the phrase. When you get the key, the app has restrictions on the screenshot, and the clipboard is disabled, which protects against malicious software.
It is you, as a user, who sees the phrases, and everything in the device is encrypted, the blockchain architecture protects against hacker attacks, information forgery, and other hacks.
For those who are a bit obsessed with persecution mania, we offer a small lifehack:
Buy several USB drives, connect them to a device that does not have access to the Internet, preferably on a clean operating system, create a text file, write backup phrases there, and encrypt the USB drives with passwords.

https://i.redd.it/shan90o4otx41.gif
Once again, to ensure security and easy recovery, it is enough to record backup phrases once and make several backups. you do not need to resort to an additional encryption method, because we have already done everything for you :)

How to not get banned on Google Play

Hi to all of you fellow developers and admirers of our lord and savior Jake Wharton. Like all of you, I faced a troubling period of my life where my apps were constantly getting banned from the mighty Google Play Store. But I found the enlightenment in the following guide, which I will share with you.
Since I was previously banned from the Play Store, I had to completely change my identity to avoid being recognized by Google. I began by moving into another house in another country. Then, I legally changed my name to avoid suspicion. I subsequently browsed the Dark Web with my Tor browser running in a VM running in another Tor browser in order to buy a fake identity from a supplier in Malaysia along with fake cards. Wearing this identity, I moved again, this time to Thailand, and I currently live in a cave with no internet connection and the nearest camera is 5 miles away. I obviously changed my appearance in the process and am now a 3'11" female. I never talked to anyone during the past two years. The identity I previously assumed is officially considered dead in the United States as of last week.
Now to the app itself. My app is a random string of letters (like "lTr2x1HQuM20603cfHzV" for example, I'm not sharing the real one here) in order to avoid any kind of impersonation with another app the the store. Additionally, my app description is empty to avoid mentioning any company or product that might exist. My developer name is another random string to again avoid impersonation. My privacy policy is 989 pages long (written in Arial 4) even though my app doesn't share any user information. Instead, it aims to cover every possible case where a user might try to find me IRL and force me to take his or her information.
I don't have any ads nor any kind of in-app purchase available. Instead, I expect user to find the address of my Bitcoin wallet (by guessing since we are not allowed to provide a donation URL) in order to cover my expenses.
To avoid impersonation further, my app has no UI nor any graphic assets. There's only one screenshot in the store listing, and it's a black screen. The user must connect the phone to a computer in order to communicate with the app via ADB (the app is a terminal SMS app). My app doesn't ask for any permission. No internet, no SMS, no location, nothing. In fact, there are negative permissions asked: the user is granted permissions as a result of downloading my app. This way, when Google eventually prevents apps from asking any permissions at all, my app will be the only one left.
I am not using any third-party library to avoid wrong SDK versions leaking into my app and I check every hour if Google has released a new Android version so the SDK version is always up-to-date. My keystore has 17 backups scattered around the world and each is managed by a trusted person that can also take over my app and continue updating it in case I die. I also use App Bundle even though my app has no resources or architecture-specific binaries.
Despite having no content at all, my app is rated 18+ for adults only to accelerate publishing process and to avoid getting banned for user-generated content (even if it's impossible for users to generate content). My app is written in Kotlin and Flutter so there are no crashes possible that might get me banned. I use ?. on every call and run the whole program in try {} catch {} to avoid crashes. I am also using RxJava 3, RxAndroid, RxKotlin, ButterKnife, Retrofit, OkHTTP, timber and RxRelay. Sure I said no 3rd party but everything written by our lord and savior is obviously first-party (more like zeroth-party since arrays start at 0).
My app is licensed under WTFPL (Do What The Fuck You Want To Public License) in order to avoid any confusion. My code also doesn't use any private APIs just in case. The code was also dipped 3 times in water blessed by our lord and savior Mr. Wharton himself in order to purify it.
Finally, I have hired a team of 30 hitmen worldwide to personally track and eliminate anyone trying to add ads to my app and publish it to third party stores, or worse, to the Google Play Store itself, and get my app (the original) banned. The hitmen search the Play Store in their free time to make sure my app name, developer name and description have no letters that matches any other app's.
These are very simple instructions to follow to avoid getting banned from the Google Play Store. Trust me it's worth it considering that the other possibility is living without the sacred Play Store!
Please be aware that posting this here is a risk I've decided to take personally. I'm afraid Google might try to track the familiar movements of my computer mouse and use it to recognize my real identity, thus sentencing my app and developer account to another painful ban. So please profit as much as possible from the short amount of information I could share with you. Farewell.

Tried lightning network, why does it take so long?

Hi there,
Can someone explain this to me please: I installed Bitcoin Lightning Wallet on Android. I charged it with bitcoin and opened a channel with OpenNode.com (seems like it has many channels). I then made a payment online (bitrefill) by scanning the QR code. Now it just says "lightning payment still in progress". The payment request timed out now, so I don't know what's happening.

What the heck is going on? Can you guys explain why it's so slow? thanks!

If YOU want to read the long version of WHY I'm pushing these two, scroll further down to the OG post and do YOUR own research.

Strong language and caps ahead.----------------------------------------------------

I am done waiting for the Gang to trickle in and get on board with this stuff. WE need to put some effort into this and focus on what is working, money and textbanking.
I'm done watching twitter drama and just normal pictures (I love them as much as the next guy, but seriously?) hit 20k+ upvotes, while dedicated calls for action and posts about hitting OUR GOALS crash and burn with <1k upvotes.

If yes: COMPLETE THE STEPS BELOW
If no: ily yanggang <3, but this is not an option. YOU are here for a reason. COMPLETE THE STEPS BELOW

-----------------------------------------TEXTBANKING-----------------------------------------

Here is the total as of 2 hours ago:

---------------------------FUNDRAISING---------------------------

I have been pushing the Cash App referral system hard. I've been called out for advertising for them or being a marketing shill. I honestly just like the damn app and we are leaving free money on the table.

85,700 SUBS x $10.00 FREE MONEY FROM THE REFERRAL = $857,000 of FREE MONEY FOR THE CAMPAIGN

That's the MATH, baby. Doesn't matter what % of subs we refer.
Why? It's free fucking money, Gang. C'mon, think harder.

I'm asking #yanggang to rally right fucking now.

There it is, Gang. This is me risking throwing my family's security in the public eye for Andrew Yang.

I believe in us, YangGang. We always double down and get shit done when the stakes are high. I know we can fucking rally and make history.

------------------OG Post------------------
Here, I will lay out a detailed plan on how we are going to generate a TON of money for the campaign.
There is a well vetted, popular money sharing app called [Cash App](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cash_App) used by tons of people. My s/o and I use it daily to send our share of groceries, rent, meals, and bills. It's slick to use and free (Also supports bitcoin and cashcards). I genuinely love this app and vastly prefer it to Venmo or Paypal. Just my opinion.

Please note:

Here's the logistics of the free fundraising:

Cash App includes a referral link system where one person can send out a referral link, Yang Gang not currently signed up with the app can use the referral link/code and enter bank info. After completing one successful transaction (minimum $5), each party will get $5 deposited into their Cash App account.

That's a net of $10 free dollars!

I've just tested this with u/TeslaMecca. They can attest how simple and slick this is. This is a huge opportunity for us Gang.
More details on steps:

The sweet potato about this is that we can elect and vet volunteers to set up a sort of 'referral link hub' where trusted yang gang could sign up to collect funds and max out their individual donor limit, and transfer any remaining funds to the next volunteer. We could do a weekly push to keep maximizing referrals.

More on the referral system:

For the lazy:
"Square Cash App Referral Program Details
\You must have the Square Cash App on your mobile device to access the referral program.*
Once you have opened the Square Cash App, just visit the “Invite Friends” link, where you can enter your friend’s phone numbers to send them a referral.

Things I've been up to for YangGang:

------------------------------------------------------------Shameless plug for textbanking:------------------------------------------------------------

I've been textbanking for the past few weeks and I've got to say, it's a pretty great experience. I've had numerous hilarious encounters with fellow Americans while simply volunteering my time and texting. It's really fun. One of my canned introductory texts was met with the following:
Contact: ok boomer
Me: What? lol I'm a millennial? born in 91
Contact: bs, name 3 pokemon
Me: just 3? like from any generation?
The conversation went on to just shooting the spit with a fellow American around my age about pokemon (and a dash of politics). There are countless memorable experiences I've had while volunteering. I'm still currently talking with a contact that started with; "what did the optometrist say to trump after his eye exam?", which after a minute I laughed and understood the punchline. We veered off the political discussion and now we are talking about our favorite comedians and shows we have seen live.
I'm strongly encouraging anyone with free time to get signed up and send a few texts out. It takes about an hour or so to get signed up, but once you get going, it takes a few seconds to get signed in and sending texts and making a difference. My favorite thing BY FAR about this is you can actually see the difference you are making. Sure, you're going to get a few people telling you to fuck off, yell at you to opt them out, or ask tough questions that you're not sure how to answer. BUT, you will have the ability to answer meaningful questions to genuinely curious Americans about this candidate that we are so passionately pushing to the highest office in our land. The banking community is extremely welcoming and helpful. Please consider donating your time and energy to this. It's a great way to contribute, especially when I can't afford to donate.

[Here](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Eao47ri3BLlzWarmTOpBndA_zCVVpzlm0oW6gKSCIKo/edit) is the To-Do List for signing up. Let me know if you need help, I'm passionate about this campaign and will take time to walk volunteers through.
TL;DR: Let's secure the fucking bag, YangGang!

Dog Bless,
~Jordan

Tutorial: How to receive Bitcoin donations on your Street Art works. This tutorial explains in 3 steps how to receive Bitcoin donations on your street art works:

Tutorial: How to receive Bitcoin donations on your Street Art works. This tutorial explains in 3 steps how to receive Bitcoin donations on your street art works:

Step 1 — Creating a Bitcoin Portfolio
First, it is necessary to create your wallet , which will generate your reception address (the equivalent of a bank account that belongs to you).
Thanks to this receiving address, you will be able to receive transactions in your wallet.
The Coinomiwallet is one of the easiest to use , available on Android, iOS, Windows, MacOS and Linux.
You are free to use any other wallet: Samurai Wallet , Spot , Electrum … Make sure that the wallet you choose is recognized and trusted because hacks , phishing and scams are commonplace in the world cryptocurrencies.
Download the application .

Once installed, click on “Create new wallet”.

The wallet will generate you your recovery phrase (or “Seed”, which is the private key of your wallet) which is most often a suite of 24 words.

Write down your recovery phrase by hand on a sheet of paper and keep it in a safe place (be careful to keep it private, anyone who owns this sentence becomes the owner of your funds).

Confirm to the wallet that you have correctly noted the recovery phrase and choose a password .
2nd step — Create your QR code visual
From your wallet, you need to generate your QR code of the receiving address .
Go to “Bitcoin BTC” in the wallet.

Click “Receive” (if indicated, choose a reception address “Compatibility” rather than “Default” or “Legacy”).

Bitcoin receive address example1F4bwjr74bmcXwRu53Jh27JRRCWHHd4yrz
You can now retrieve the QR code with a screenshot and save the receiving address .
To put this QR code on your works, there are 2 methods; a very simple and accessible to all (printing on paper and collage) and the second is a little more complicated (cutting stencil) but more durable:
  • The easiest way is to print the QR code on paper with the mention “Bitcoin donations” at the top and your Bitcoin receipt address at the bottom and paste it into your work.

Download this template and add your QR code and receiving address (as above). Check that the address shown corresponds to the QR code by scanning it with a smartphone.
Optional: It is recommended to add your website (or social networks) to allow people to validate that this is your Bitcoin address (and not that of a person posing as you). Of course, this same Bitcoin receiving address must appear on the front page of your site (and in your social networks profile) to allow donors to verify that the funds will be received by you.
Once the sheet is printed, you can paste it on your next street artwork. Prefer flat and smooth surfaces for better adhesion of the poster. We must make sure that it fits in with the signature of the work so that we understand that the gifts are for you.

- The second method is to create a QR code stencil and use a spray bomb to put it in your work.
There are 2 possible cutting techniques: A manual technique that requires some basic DIY. The second technique is to prepare the visual Photoshop and Illustator then to call a provider who will cut the stencil for you.
1st technique — Manual: To make yourself the stencil, you will need a rigid sheet, a cutting support, a cutting scalpel, Masking Tape, a black felt pen, a clamp and a thin square grid.
To make the QR code stencil by hand, see this tutorial .

Once the stencil of QR code is made, make a stencil with the mention “Donate Bitcoin” and add it to the first stencil to understand that this is your Bitcoin reception address. You can write it yourself or use this template (below) that you can print and overlay your rigid sheet.

Once your stencil is ready (“Donate Bitcoin” + QR code), you can put it on your next work with a black paint spray. Prefer flat, smooth and clear surfaces for a better readability of the QR code. We must make sure that the stencil is integrated into the signature of the work to understand that the gifts are for you.
2nd technique — Stencil cutting by a provider: To create a QR code stencil, it is imperative that all the background of the visual is connected to allow cutting of the stencil, for this, it is necessary to go to a site that generates QR compatible stencil code like qrcode-zebra.com

Once on the site, choose the “Text” tab and paste your Bitcoin receipt address and click on “Generate QR code”. Your QR code will appear, but the design will not be the right one. There are a few changes to make. In the “Choose patterns” tab on the left, click on the first pattern (which looks like a square grid), then in “Choose eyes”, click on the first box (the basic square “eyes”). Then, in “Set colors”, choose the color black.
Optional: if you wish to add your logo or signature, you can add it in “Add logo”. The file should be as simple as possible, in black with transparent background that connects (compatible with a stencil cut).
Now that the QR code is ready, you can retrieve it with a screenshot or click on “Dowload PNG” and give your email address to receive the QR code as a PNG file.
Then, on Photoshop, it is necessary to couple the grid of your QR code with this model so that the mention “Donations in Bitcoin” and the 3 “Eyes” square of the QR are compatible for a stencil cut. Use overlapping layers and erase old “eyes”.

Finally, download this special stencil typography and use it to enter your Bitcoin receipt address used on your QR code. Check that the address shown corresponds to the QR code by scanning it with a smartphone.
It is strongly recommended to also add your website (or social networks) to allow people to validate that this is your Bitcoin address (and not that of a person posing as you). Of course, this same Bitcoin receiving address must appear on the front page of your site (and in your social networks profile) to allow donors to verify that the funds will be received by you.
Once the visual is ready and fully compatible for stencil cutting, you can vectorize it in Illustrator and save it in EPS or AI format.
Last step, send this file to a provider who makes stencil cutting.
It’s up to you to choose the provider that best suits your location, price and time. Choose a format that suits your job. For large frescoes, larger formats (A2) are preferable, and for smaller works, smaller sizes (A4).

Once you receive the stencil, you can affix it to your next work with a black paint spray. Prefer flat, smooth and clear surfaces for a better readability of the QR code. We must make sure that it fits in with the signature of the work so that we understand that the gifts are for you.

3 — Last step, communicate.
Let all those who follow your work know that they can now support you financially by sending you Bitcoin donations on your Street Art works. You can use the means you have available, your contacts, your website, your social networks …
To help beginners, here is a tutorial that explains how to buy Bitcoin.
To track the transactions you receive, you can open your wallet regularly to see your balance.
To receive a notification when you receive a donation, you can use your Wallet to track transactions at an address of your choice.
The public can also see your balance received on your address thanks to blockchain explorers.
Here is the balance of a donation address: 3Pboy9ucGEdQUHNu2rrC6RGq4jouRc4Grb
If you receive a lot of donations, it is a good opportunity to communicate on the amount received.
Good luck and good creation!
FAQ
Why use Bitcoin?
The money you receive is 100% in your possession because you are the sole owner of your private key (recovery phrase, or “Seed”), unlike other centralized means of payment (Banks, Paypal, Ulule, Patreon. ..), Bitcoin happens totally of intermediary of confidence.
How do I use Bitcoin?
Thanks to your wallet you create a private key and a public address. The private key (recovery phrase, or “Seed”) is a bit like the key to your digital vault that you need to keep only for yourself. The public address is your RIB to receive transactions, you can share it publicly without problem.
How do I exchange my bitcoins for USD?
You can at any time send your bitcoins on an exchange online ( Coinbase …) to convert them into currency (Euro, Dollar …). You need to create an account on one of these exchange exchanges, convert your funds into the desired currency and then make a transfer to your bank account.
A faster solution may be to use a centralized service provider that offers a Bitcoin wallet connected to a credit card to spend your bitcoins directly ( Wirex , Coinbase …).

Your Guide to Monero, and Why It Has Great Potential

/////Your Guide to Monero, and Why It Has Great Potential/////

Marketing.
It's a dirty word for most members of the Monero community.
It is also one of the most divisive words in the Monero community. Yet, the lack of marketing is one of the most frustrating things for many newcomers.
This is what makes this an unusual post from a member of the Monero community.
This post is an unabashed and unsolicited analyzation of why I believe Monero to have great potential.
Below I have attempted to outline different reasons why Monero has great potential, beginning with upcoming developments and use cases, to broader economic motives, speculation, and key issues for it to overcome.
I encourage you to discuss and criticise my musings, commenting below if you feel necessary to do so.

///Upcoming Developments///

Bulletproofs - A Reduction in Transaction Sizes and Fees
Since the introduction of Ring Confidential Transactions (Ring CT), transaction amounts have been hidden in Monero, albeit at the cost of increased transaction fees and sizes. In order to mitigate this issue, Bulletproofs will soon be added to reduce both fees and transaction size by 80% to 90%. This is great news for those transacting smaller USD amounts as people commonly complained Monero's fees were too high! Not any longer though! More information can be found here. Bulletproofs are already working on the Monero testnet, and developers were aiming to introduce them in March 2018, however it could be delayed in order to ensure everything is tried and tested.
Multisig
Multisig has recently been merged! Mulitsig, also called multisignature, is the requirement for a transaction to have two or more signatures before it can be executed. Multisig transactions and addresses are indistinguishable from normal transactions and addresses in Monero, and provide more security than single-signature transactions. It is believed this will lead to additional marketplaces and exchanges to supporting Monero.
Kovri
Kovri is an implementation of the Invisible Internet Project (I2P) network. Kovri uses both garlic encryption and garlic routing to create a private, protected overlay-network across the internet. This overlay-network provides users with the ability to effectively hide their geographical location and internet IP address. The good news is Kovri is under heavy development and will be available soon. Unlike other coins' false privacy claims, Kovri is a game changer as it will further elevate Monero as the king of privacy.
Mobile Wallets
There is already a working Android Wallet called Monerujo available in the Google Play Store. X Wallet is an IOS mobile wallet. One of the X Wallet developers recently announced they are very, very close to being listed in the Apple App Store, however are having some issues with getting it approved. The official Monero IOS and Android wallets, along with the MyMonero IOS and Android wallets, are also almost ready to be released, and can be expected very soon.
Hardware Wallets
Hardware wallets are currently being developed and nearing completion. Because Monero is based on the CryptoNote protocol, it means it requires unique development in order to allow hardware wallet integration. The Ledger Nano S will be adding Monero support by the end of Q1 2018. There is a recent update here too. Even better, for the first time ever in cryptocurrency history, the Monero community banded together to fund the development of an exclusive Monero Hardware Wallet, and will be available in Q2 2018, costing only about $20! In addition, the CEO of Trezor has offered a 10BTC bounty to whoever can provide the software to allow Monero integration. Someone can be seen to already be working on that here.
TAILS Operating System Integration
Monero is in the progress of being packaged in order for it to be integrated into TAILS and ready to use upon install. TAILS is the operating system popularised by Edward Snowden and is commonly used by those requiring privacy such as journalists wanting to protect themselves and sources, human-right defenders organizing in repressive contexts, citizens facing national emergencies, domestic violence survivors escaping from their abusers, and consequently, darknet market users.
In the meantime, for those users who wish to use TAILS with Monero, u/Electric_sheep01 has provided Sheep's Noob guide to Monero GUI in Tails 3.2, which is a step-by-step guide with screenshots explaining how to setup Monero in TAILS, and is very easy to follow.
Mandatory Hardforks
Unlike other coins, Monero receives a protocol upgrade every 6 months in March and September. Think of it as a Consensus Protocol Update. Monero's hard forks ensure quality development takes place, while preventing political or ideological issues from hindering progress. When a hardfork occurs, you simply download and use the new daemon version, and your existing wallet files and copy of the blockchain remain compatible. This reddit post provides more information.
Dynamic fees
Many cryptocurrencies have an arbitrary block size limit. Although Monero has a limit, it is adaptive based on the past 100 blocks. Similarly, fees change based on transaction volume. As more transactions are processed on the Monero network, the block size limit slowly increases and the fees slowly decrease. The opposite effect also holds true. This means that the more transactions that take place, the cheaper the fees!
Tail Emission and Inflation
There will be around 18.4 million Monero mined at the end of May 2022. However, tail emission will kick in after that which is 0.6 XMR, so it has no fixed limit. Gundamlancer explains that Monero's "main emission curve will issue about 18.4 million coins to be mined in approximately 8 years. (more precisely 18.132 Million coins by ca. end of May 2022) After that, a constant "tail emission" of 0.6 XMR per 2-minutes block (modified from initially equivalent 0.3 XMR per 1-minute block) will create a sub-1% perpetual inflatio starting with 0.87% yearly inflation around May 2022) to prevent the lack of incentives for miners once a currency is not mineable anymore.
Monero Research Lab
Monero has a group of anonymous/pseudo-anonymous university academics actively researching, developing, and publishing academic papers in order to improve Monero. See here and here. The Monero Research Lab are acquainted with other members of cryptocurrency academic community to ensure when new research or technology is uncovered, it can be reviewed and decided upon whether it would be beneficial to Monero. This ensures Monero will always remain a leading cryptocurrency. A recent end of 2017 update from a MRL researcher can be found here.

///Monero's Technology - Rising Above The Rest///

Monero Has Already Proven Itself To Be Private, Secure, Untraceable, and Trustless
Monero is the only private, untraceable, trustless, secure and fungible cryptocurrency. Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are TRACEABLE through the use of blockchain analytics, and has lead to the prosecution of numerous individuals, such as the alleged Alphabay administrator Alexandre Cazes. In the Forfeiture Complaint which detailed the asset seizure of Alexandre Cazes, the anonymity capabilities of Monero were self-demonstrated by the following statement of the officials after the AlphaBay shutdown: "In total, from CAZES' wallets and computer agents took control of approximately $8,800,000 in Bitcoin, Ethereum, Monero and Zcash, broken down as follows: 1,605.0503851 Bitcoin, 8,309.271639 Ethereum, 3,691.98 Zcash, and an unknown amount of Monero".
Privacy CANNOT BE OPTIONAL and must be at a PROTOCOL LEVEL. With Monero, privacy is mandatory, so that everyone gets the benefits of privacy without any transactions standing out as suspicious. This is the reason Darknet Market places are moving to Monero, and will never use Verge, Zcash, Dash, Pivx, Sumo, Spectre, Hush or any other coins that lack good privacy. Peter Todd (who was involved in the Zcash trusted setup ceremony) recently reiterated his concerns of optional privacy after Jeffrey Quesnelle published his recent paper stating 31.5% of Zcash transactions may be traceable, and that only ~1% of the transactions are pure privacy transactions (i.e., z -> z transactions). When the attempted private transactions stand out like a sore thumb there is no privacy, hence why privacy cannot be optional. In addition, in order for a cryptocurrency to truly be private, it must not be controlled by a centralised body, such as a company or organisation, because it opens it up to government control and restrictions. This is no joke, but Zcash is supported by DARPA and the Israeli government!.
Monero provides a stark contrast compared to other supposed privacy coins, in that Monero does not have a rich list! With all other coins, you can view wallet balances on the blockexplorers. You can view Monero's non-existent rich list here to see for yourself.
I will reiterate here that Monero is TRUSTLESS. You don't need to rely on anyone else to protect your privacy, or worry about others colluding to learn more about you. No one can censor your transaction or decide to intervene. Monero is immutable, unlike Zcash, in which the lead developer Zooko publicly tweeted the possibility of providing a backdoor for authorities to trace transactions. To Zcash's demise, Zooko famously tweeted:
" And by the way, I think we can successfully make Zcash too traceable for criminals like WannaCry, but still completely private & fungible. …"
Ethereum's track record of immutability is also poor. Ethereum was supposed to be an immutable blockchain ledger, however after the DAO hack this proved to not be the case. A 2016 article on Saintly Law summarised the problematic nature of Ethereum's leadership and blockchain intervention:
" Many ethereum and blockchain advocates believe that the intervention was the wrong move to make in this situation. Smart contracts are meant to be self-executing, immutable and free from disturbance by organisations and intermediaries. Yet the building block of all smart contracts, the code, is inherently imperfect. This means that the technology is vulnerable to the same malicious hackers that are targeting businesses and governments. It is also clear that the large scale intervention after the DAO hack could not and would not likely be taken in smaller transactions, as they greatly undermine the viability of the cryptocurrency and the technology."
Monero provides Fungibility and Privacy in a Cashless World
As outlined on GetMonero.org, fungibility is the property of a currency whereby two units can be substituted in place of one another. Fungibility means that two units of a currency can be mutually substituted and the substituted currency is equal to another unit of the same size. For example, two $10 bills can be exchanged and they are functionally identical to any other $10 bill in circulation (although $10 bills have unique ID numbers and are therefore not completely fungible). Gold is probably a closer example of true fungibility, where any 1 oz. of gold of the same grade is worth the same as another 1 oz. of gold. Monero is fungible due to the nature of the currency which provides no way to link transactions together nor trace the history of any particular XMR. 1 XMR is functionally identical to any other 1 XMR. Fungibility is an advantage Monero has over Bitcoin and almost every other cryptocurrency, due to the privacy inherent in the Monero blockchain and the permanently traceable nature of the Bitcoin blockchain. With Bitcoin, any BTC can be tracked by anyone back to its creation coinbase transaction. Therefore, if a coin has been used for an illegal purpose in the past, this history will be contained in the blockchain in perpetuity.
A great example of Bitcoin's lack of fungibility was reposted by u/ViolentlyPeaceful:
"Imagine you sell cupcakes and receive Bitcoin as payment. It turns out that someone who owned that Bitcoin before you was involved in criminal activity. Now you are worried that you have become a suspect in a criminal case, because the movement of funds to you is a matter of public record. You are also worried that certain Bitcoins that you thought you owned will be considered ‘tainted’ and that others will refuse to accept them as payment."
This lack of fungibility means that certain businesses will be obligated to avoid accepting BTC that have been previously used for purposes which are illegal, or simply run afoul of their Terms of Service. Currently some large Bitcoin companies are blocking, suspending, or closing accounts that have received Bitcoin used in online gambling or other purposes deemed unsavory by said companies. Monero has been built specifically to address the problem of traceability and non-fungibility inherent in other cryptocurrencies. By having completely private transactions Monero is truly fungible and there can be no blacklisting of certain XMR, while at the same time providing all the benefits of a secure, decentralized, permanent blockchain.
The world is moving cashless. Fact. The ramifications of this are enormous as we move into a cashless world in which transactions will be tracked and there is a potential for data to be used by third parties for adverse purposes. While most new cryptocurrency investors speculate upon vaporware ICO tokens in the hope of generating wealth, Monero provides salvation for those in which financial privacy is paramount. Too often people equate Monero's features with criminal endeavors. Privacy is not a crime, and is necessary for good money. Transparency in Monero is possible OFF-CHAIN, which offers greater transparency and flexibility. For example, a Monero user may share their Private View Key with their accountant for tax purposes.
Monero aims to be adopted by more than just those with nefarious use cases. For example, if you lived in an oppressive religious regime and wanted to buy a certain item, using Monero would allow you to exchange value privately and across borders if needed. Another example is that if everybody can see how much cryptocurrency you have in your wallet, then a certain service might decide to charge you more, and bad actors could even use knowledge of your wallet balance to target you for extortion purposes. For example, a Russian cryptocurrency blogger was recently beaten and robbed of $425k. This is why FUNGIBILITY IS ESSENTIAL. To summarise this in a nutshell:
"A lack of fungibility means that when sending or receiving funds, if the other person personally knows you during a transaction, or can get any sort of information on you, or if you provide a residential address for shipping etc. – you could quite potentially have them use this against you for personal gain"
For those that wish to seek more information about why Monero is a superior form of money, read The Merits of Monero: Why Monero Vs Bitcoin over on the Monero.how website.
Monero's Humble Origins
Something that still rings true today despite the great influx of money into cryptocurrencies was outlined in Nick Tomaino's early 2016 opinion piece. The author claimed that "one of the most interesting aspects of Monero is that the project has gained traction without a crowd sale pre-launch, without VC funding and any company or well-known investors and without a pre-mine. Like Bitcoin in the early days, Monero has been a purely grassroots movement that was bootstrapped by the creator and adopted organically without any institutional buy-in. The creator and most of the core developers serve the community pseudonymously and the project was launched on a message board (similar to the way Bitcoin was launched on an email newsletter)."
The Organic Growth of the Monero Community
The Monero community over at monero is exponentially growing. You can view the Monero reddit metrics here and see that the Monero subreddit currently gains more than 10,000 (yes, ten thousand!) new subscribers every 10 days! Compare this to most of the other coins out there, and it proves to be one of the only projects with real organic growth. In addition to this, the community subreddits are specifically divided to ensure the main subreddit remains unbiased, tech focused, with no shilling or hype. All trading talk is designated to xmrtrader, and all memes at moonero.
Forum Funding System
While most contributors have gratefully volunteered their time to the project, Monero also has a Forum Funding System in which money is donated by community members to ensure it attracts and retains the brightest minds and most skilled developers. Unlike ICOs and other cryptocurrencies, Monero never had a premine, and does not have a developer tax. If ANYONE requires funding for a Monero related project, then they can simply request funding from the community, and if the community sees it as beneficial, they will donate. Types of projects range from Monero funding for local meet ups, to paying developers for their work.
Monero For Goods, Services, and Market Places
There is a growing number of online goods and services that you can now pay for with Monero. Globee is a service that allows online merchants to accept payments through credit cards and a host of cryptocurrencies, while being settled in Bitcoin, Monero or fiat currency. Merchants can reach a wider variety of customers, while not needing to invest in additional hardware to run cryptocurrency wallets or accept the current instability of the cryptocurrency market. Globee uses all of the open source API's that BitPay does making integrations much easier!
Project Coral Reef is a service which allows you to shop and pay for popular music band products and services using Monero.
Linux, Veracrypt, and a whole array of VPNs now accept Monero.
There is a new Monero only marketplace called Annularis currently being developed which has been created for those who value financial privacy and economic freedom, and there are rumours Open Bazaar is likely to support Monero once Multisig is implemented.
In addition, Monero is also supported by The Living Room of Satoshi so you can pay bills or credit cards directly using Monero.
Monero can be found on a growing number of cryptocurrency exchange services such as Bittrex, Poloniex, Cryptopia, Shapeshift, Changelly, Bitfinex, Kraken, Bisq, Tux, and many others.
For those wishing to purchase Monero anonymously, there are services such as LocalMonero.co and Moneroforcash.com.
With XMR.TO you can pay Bitcoin addresses directly with Monero. There are no other fees than the miner ones. All user records are purged after 48 hours. XMR.TO has also been added as an embedded feature into the Monerujo android wallet.
Coinhive Browser-Based Mining
Unlike Bitcoin, Monero can be mined using CPUs and GPUs. Not only does this encourage decentralisation, it also opens the door to browser based mining. Enter side of stage, Coinhive browser-based mining. As described by Hon Lau on the Symnatec Blog Browser-based mining, as its name suggests, is a method of cryptocurrency mining that happens inside a browser and is implemented using Javascript. Coinhive is marketed as an alternative to browser ad revenue. The motivation behind this is simple: users pay for the content indirectly by coin mining when they visit the site and website owners don't have to bother users with sites laden with ads, trackers, and all the associated paraphern. This is great, provided that the websites are transparent with site visitors and notify users of the mining that will be taking place, or better still, offer users a way to opt in, although this hasn't always been the case thus far.
Skepticism Sunday
The main Monero subreddit has weekly Skepticism Sundays which was created with the purpose of installing "a culture of being scientific, skeptical, and rational". This is used to have open, critical discussions about monero as a technology, it's economics, and so on.

Major Investors And Crypto Figureheads Are Interested
Ari Paul is the co-founder and CIO of BlockTower Capital. He was previously a portfolio manager for the University of Chicago's $8 billion endowment, and a derivatives market maker and proprietary trader for Susquehanna International Group. Paul was interviewed on CNBC on the 26th of December and when asked what was his favourite coin was, he stated "One that has real fundamental value besides from Bitcoin is Monero" and said it has "very strong engineering". In addition, when he was asked if that was the one used by criminals, he replied "Everything is used by criminals including the US dollar and the Euro". Paul later supported these claims on Twitter, recommending only Bitcoin and Monero as long-term investments.
There are reports that "Roger Ver, earlier known as 'Bitcoin Jesus' for his evangelical support of the Bitcoin during its early years, said his investment in Monero is 'substantial' and his biggest in any virtual currency since Bitcoin.
Charlie Lee, the creator of Litecoin, has publicly stated his appreciation of Monero. In a September 2017 tweet directed to Edward Snowden explaining why Monero is superior to Zcash, Charlie Lee tweeted:
All private transactions, More tested privacy tech, No tax on miners to pay investors, No high inflation... better investment.
John McAfee, arguably cryptocurrency's most controversial character at the moment, has publicly supported Monero numerous times over the last twelve months(before he started shilling ICOs), and has even claimed it will overtake Bitcoin.
Playboy instagram celebrity Dan Bilzerian is a Monero investor, with 15% of his portfolio made up of Monero.
Finally, while he may not be considered a major investor or figurehead, Erik Finman, a young early Bitcoin investor and multimillionaire, recently appeared in a CNBC Crypto video interview, explaining why he isn't entirely sold on Bitcoin anymore, and expresses his interest in Monero, stating:
"Monero is a really good one. Monero is an incredible currency, it's completely private."
There is a common belief that most of the money in cryptocurrency is still chasing the quick pump and dumps, however as the market matures, more money will flow into legitimate projects such as Monero. Monero's organic growth in price is evidence smart money is aware of Monero and gradually filtering in.
The Bitcoin Flaw
A relatively unknown blogger named CryptoIzzy posted three poignant pieces regarding Monero and its place in the world. The Bitcoin Flaw: Monero Rising provides an intellectual comparison of Monero to other cryptocurrencies, and Valuing Cryptocurrencies: An Approach outlines methods of valuing different coins.
CryptoIzzy's most recent blog published only yesterday titled Monero Valuation - Update and Refocus is a highly recommended read. It touches on why Monero is much more than just a coin for the Darknet Markets, and provides a calculated future price of Monero.
CryptoIzzy also published The Power of Money: A Case for Bitcoin, which is an exploration of our monetary system, and the impact decentralised cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Monero will have on the world. In the epilogue the author also provides a positive and detailed future valuation based on empirical evidence. CryptoIzzy predicts Monero to easily progress well into the four figure range.
Monero Has a Relatively Small Marketcap
Recently we have witnessed many newcomers to cryptocurrency neglecting to take into account coins' marketcap and circulating supply, blindly throwing money at coins under $5 with inflated marketcaps and large circulating supplies, and then believing it's possible for them to reach $100 because someone posted about it on Facebook or Reddit.
Compared to other cryptocurrencies, Monero still has a low marketcap, which means there is great potential for the price to multiply. At the time of writing, according to CoinMarketCap, Monero's marketcap is only a little over $5 billion, with a circulating supply of 15.6 million Monero, at a price of $322 per coin.
For this reason, I would argue that this is evidence Monero is grossly undervalued. Just a few billion dollars of new money invested in Monero can cause significant price increases. Monero's marketcap only needs to increase to ~$16 billion and the price will triple to over $1000. If Monero's marketcap simply reached ~$35 billion (just over half of Ripple's $55 billion marketcap), Monero's price will increase 600% to over $2000 per coin.
Another way of looking at this is Monero's marketcap only requires ~$30 billion of new investor money to see the price per Monero reach $2000, while for Ethereum to reach $2000, Ethereum's marketcap requires a whopping ~$100 billion of new investor money.
Technical Analysis
There are numerous Monero technical analysts, however none more eerily on point than the crowd-pleasing Ero23. Ero23's charts and analysis can be found on Trading View. Ero23 gained notoriety for his long-term Bitcoin bull chart published in February, which is still in play today. Head over to his Trading View page to see his chart: Monero's dwindling supply. $10k in 2019 scenario, in which Ero23 predicts Monero to reach $10,000 in 2019. There is also this chart which appears to be freakishly accurate and is tracking along perfectly today.
Coinbase Rumours
Over the past 12 months there have been ongoing rumours that Monero will be one of the next cryptocurrencies to be added to Coinbase. In January 2017, Monero Core team member Riccardo 'Fluffypony' Spagni presented a talk at Coinbase HQ. In addition, in November 2017 GDAX announced the GDAX Digit Asset Framework outlining specific parameters cryptocurrencies must meet in order to be added to the exchange. There is speculation that when Monero has numerous mobile and hardware wallets available, and multisig is working, then it will be added. This would enable public accessibility to Monero to increase dramatically as Coinbase had in excess of 13 million users as of December, and is only going to grow as demand for cryptocurrencies increases. Many users argue that due to KYC/AML regulations, Coinbase will never be able to add Monero, however the Kraken exchange already operates in the US and has XMfiat pairs, so this is unlikely to be the reason Coinbase is yet to implement XMfiat trading.
Monero Is Not an ICO Scam
It is likely most of the ICOs which newcomers invest in, hoping to get rich quick, won't even be in the Top 100 cryptocurrencies next year. A large portion are most likely to be pumps and dumps, and we have already seen numerous instances of ICO exit scams. Once an ICO raises millions of dollars, the developers or CEO of the company have little incentive to bother rolling out their product or service when they can just cash out and leave. The majority of people who create a company to provide a service or product, do so in order to generate wealth. Unless these developers and CEOs are committed and believed in their product or service, it's likely that the funds raised during the ICO will far exceed any revenue generated from real world use cases.
Monero is a Working Currency, Today
Monero is a working currency, here today.
The majority of so called cryptocurrencies that exist today are not true currencies, and do not aim to be. They are a token of exchange. They are like a share in a start-up company hoping to use blockchain technology to succeed in business. A crypto-assest is a more accurate name for coins such as Ethereum, Neo, Cardano, Vechain, etc.
Monero isn't just a vaporware ICO token that promises to provide a blockchain service in the future. It is not a platform for apps. It is not a pump and dump coin.
Monero is the only coin with all the necessary properties to be called true money.
Monero is private internet money.
Some even describe Monero as an online Swiss Bank Account or Bitcoin 2.0, and it is here to continue on from Bitcoin's legacy.
Monero is alleviating the public from the grips of banks, and protests the monetary system forced upon us.
Monero only achieved this because it is the heart and soul, and blood, sweat, and tears of the contributors to this project. Monero supporters are passionate, and Monero has gotten to where it is today thanks to its contributors and users.

///Key Issues for Monero to Overcome///

Scalability
While Bulletproofs are soon to be implemented in order to improve Monero's transaction sizes and fees, scalability is an issue for Monero that is continuously being assessed by Monero's researchers and developers to find the most appropriate solution. Ricardo 'Fluffypony' Spagni recently appeared on CNBC's Crypto Trader, and when asked whether Monero is scalable as it stands today, Spagni stated that presently, Monero's on-chain scaling is horrible and transactions are larger than Bitcoin's (because of Monero's privacy features), so side-chain scaling may be more efficient. Spagni elaborated that the Monero team is, and will always be, looking for solutions to an array of different on-chain and off-chain scaling options, such as developing a Mimblewimble side-chain, exploring the possibility of Lightning Network so atomic swaps can be performed, and Tumblebit.
In a post on the Monero subreddit from roughly a month ago, monero moderator u/dEBRUYNE_1 supports Spagni's statements. dEBRUYNE_1 clarifies the issue of scalability:
"In Bitcoin, the main chain is constrained and fees are ludicrous. This results in users being pushed to second layer stuff (e.g. sidechains, lightning network). Users do not have optionality in Bitcoin. In Monero, the goal is to make the main-chain accessible to everyone by keeping fees reasonable. We want users to have optionality, i.e., let them choose whether they'd like to use the main chain or second layer stuff. We don't want to take that optionality away from them."
When the Spagni CNBC video was recently linked to the Monero subreddit, it was met with lengthy debate and discussion from both users and developers. u/ferretinjapan summarised the issue explaining:
"Monero has all the mechanisms it needs to find the balance between transaction load, and offsetting the costs of miner infrastructure/profits, while making sure the network is useful for users. But like the interviewer said, the question is directed at "right now", and Fluffys right to a certain extent, Monero's transactions are huge, and compromises in blockchain security will help facilitate less burdensome transactional activity in the future. But to compare Monero to Bitcoin's transaction sizes is somewhat silly as Bitcoin is nowhere near as useful as monero, and utility will facilitate infrastructure building that may eventually utterly dwarf Bitcoin. And to equate scaling based on a node being run on a desktop being the only option for what classifies as "scalable" is also an incredibly narrow interpretation of the network being able to scale, or not. Given the extremely narrow definition of scaling people love to (incorrectly) use, I consider that a pretty crap question to put to Fluffy in the first place, but... ¯_(ツ)_/¯"
u/xmrusher also contributed to the discussion, comparing Bitcoin to Monero using this analogous description:
"While John is much heavier than Henry, he's still able to run faster, because, unlike Henry, he didn't chop off his own legs just so the local wheelchair manufacturer can make money. While Morono has much larger transactions then Bitcoin, it still scales better, because, unlike Bitcoin, it hasn't limited itself to a cripplingly tiny blocksize just to allow Blockstream to make money."
Setting up a wallet can still be time consuming
It's time consuming and can be somewhat difficult for new cryptocurrency users to set up their own wallet using the GUI wallet or the Command Line Wallet. In order to strengthen and further decentralize the Monero network, users are encouraged to run a full node for their wallet, however this can be an issue because it can take up to 24-48 hours for some users depending on their hard-drive and internet speeds. To mitigate this issue, users can run a remote node, meaning they can remotely connect their wallet to another node in order to perform transactions, and in the meantime continue to sync the daemon so in the future they can then use their own node.
For users that do run into wallet setup issues, or any other problems for that matter, there is an extremely helpful troubleshooting thread on the Monero subreddit which can be found here. And not only that, unlike some other cryptocurrency subreddits, if you ask a question, there is always a friendly community member who will happily assist you. Monero.how is a fantastic resource too!
Despite still being difficult to use, the user-base and price may increase dramatically once it is easier to use. In addition, others believe that when hardware wallets are available more users will shift to Monero.

///Conclusion///

I actually still feel a little shameful for promoting Monero here, but feel a sense of duty to do so.
Monero is transitioning into an unstoppable altruistic beast. This year offers the implementation of many great developments, accompanied by the likelihood of a dramatic increase in price.
I request you discuss this post, point out any errors I have made, or any information I may have neglected to include. Also, if you believe in the Monero project, I encourage you to join your local Facebook or Reddit cryptocurrency group and spread the word of Monero. You could even link this post there to bring awareness to new cryptocurrency users and investors.
I will leave you with an old on-going joke within the Monero community - Don't buy Monero - unless you have a use case for it of course :-) Just think to yourself though - Do I have a use case for Monero in our unpredictable Huxleyan society? Hint: The answer is ?
Edit: Added in the Tail Emission section, and noted Dan Bilzerian as a Monero investor. Also added information regarding the XMR.TO payment service. Added info about hardfork

On Electron Cash 4.0.9 Android, BIP70 URIs Only Work with QR Scan, not Copy & Paste. Copy & Paste Does Work on Desktop Client, However.

UPDATE 2019-09-23 (18:49UTC):
I have determined that the Bitcoin.com Android wallet can parse and process pasted BIP70 URIs, so I will use that for now instead of the Electron Cash Android wallet. This shows why it's important to have multiple implementations of all Bitcoin related software.
Jonald requested that I add a ticket regarding this issue, but I have declined to do so for personal reasons. If someone could enter the ticket, it would be greatly appreciated by myself and other users as well, I'm sure.
Original Post
So, my setup is I want to use the Bitpay card and I don't want to use their wallet, I want to use Electron Cash on Android. To top up my card, I want to use their website on Chrome mobile to generate the BIP70 invoice URI then copy & paste it into my Electron Cash wallet. I want this all self contained in the phone.
This is where things get weird and the Android client inexplicably operates differently than the desktop. When I paste a BIP70 URI into the desktop Electron Cash send dialog, it immediately loads up the details. I can also scan QR codes with the same URI and it behaves the same way.
On Android though, pasting the URI into the "Pay to" input field does nothing. Hitting OK after pasting just displays a little "Invalid Address" notification. However, scanning a QR code with the same data, does work on the Android client. Unfortunately, the QR is on the same device, so I can't scan it with the camera. Why won't pasting the URI work on the Android client? Is it using a different path of processing the input on Android? Is this going to be fixed soon? Maybe I can find a "software camera" that acts like a camera but really displays a saved image and I can make a screenshot, but this seems like kind of a ridiculous requirement.
Before people chime in with discussion about how terrible Bitpay is as a company, don't bother, I've heard about it all already. I just got the card once they re-enabled ATM/cash withdrawals, though I still think that was a pretty shady situation. I don't need to hear opinions on Bitpay as a company, etc., thanks. It's a free country, though, so do what you want, but you're probably better off starting yet another thread.
As an aside, one time when I was testing things to verify the different behaviors, I scanned the QR code on the Electron Cash Desktop client, and it loaded it right away, but it had 2 lines in the invoices portion of the window. This was confusing. It seemed like one of them wasn't doing anything, only one of them had the full value, but it wasn't clear what was going on. I felt like it might have tried to send twice the amount I wanted. It only did this for one QR, other tests I ran didn't. I kind of suspect this was an issue from Bitpay sending a weird invoice, but I'm not sure.

Beginners Guide To Using Binance (Buying ALTcoins)

Beginners Guide To Using Binance (Buying ALTcoins)

Hello, Today I am going to give you newcomers a walkthrough on how to setup and use Binance.
Lets Get Started...

STEP 1 - Preparing your Computer for Cryptocurrency Transactions

This is a step most people do not think about. I have been reading more and more about MalWare,Spyware and keyloggers that are specifically targeting Cryptocurrency transactions. If your computer is infected, you could easily lose your cryptos before you even get started. Do some virus scans, malware scans and make sure your antivirus is up to date. I can not stress this enough, make sure your computer is secure before you begin trading cryptos.

STEP 2 - Registration

Once you have a secure PC for setting up your account, you will want to go to https://binance.com Here is a SCREENSHOT of what you will see when you first go to the Binance Website.
Registering is simple. Enter the Email and Password you would like to use and hit register. You will receive an email with a verification link, once you verify your email, your account will be registered.

STEP 3 - 2FA (Two-Factor Authentication)

When you first login you should be greeted by this SCREEN. Depending on how secure you want your account to be, I highly suggest you enable Two-Factor Authentication. What 2FA does is creates a random 6 digit number that changes every 30 seconds. You will also need this code on top of your email and password to login. So if someone does somehow manage to steal your password, you will still be safe as long as they do not have your 2FA device. The only option available is by Google Authenticator which is available for both Android and iOS Smartphones.
Once your ready to begin click the Google Auth Button and it will bring up this SCREEN

STEP 4 - Making a deposit

STEP 5 - Trading

Before you buy your first coins you will want to grab yourself a few Binance Coins or BNB to pay for trading fees. In order to take advantage of the 0.05% trading fees you will need have some BNB. If your only doing small trades, I suggest just buying 1 or 2 BNB to get a feel of how much each trade costs. One of the main reasons to do this is because binance does not allow you to trade in small decimals, so if it ends up taking your fees from the coins your trying to buy, you will be left with untradeable dust. Say you buy 110 XRP and do not have any BNB to pay for the fees. Your fees will now be 1% of the total amount or 1.1 XRP. So you will have 108.9 XRP and will be unable to trade the 0.9 XRP back to Bitcoin or Ethereum. This 0.9 XRP is considered "Dust". Binance is apparently working on a solution to this. Buying BNB is easy. From the Exchange Screen find the BNB/BTC pair (if you deposited Bitcoin) and place a market order to buy some BNB. The method will be the exact same as shown below.
Once you have some Bitcoin or Ethereum loaded into your account your now ready to trade it for other coins. I'm assuming at this point you have done your research and know the coins you want to get into. In this example we are going to use a popular cryptocurrency called XRP or Ripple. Hit the "Exchange" Button on the top left of your screen and go to basic. It will bring up a screen with charts and a bunch of green and red numbers. HERES AN EXAMPLE
There are two types of orders you can make:
If you want to sell your ALTcoins back to Bitcoin or Ethereum then place a market sell order or limit order at the price you want to convert them back.

STEP 6 - Securing your new coins

Depending on if your strategy is too buy and hold, Once you buy your coins you will want to secure them by sending them to the individual wallet made for the coin you bought. In our case we just bought Ripple XRP. So you go back to your "Deposits and Withdrawals" under the "Funds" tab in binance and type in the search bar the coin you want to send out.
Make sure you have the right coin and hit the "Withdrawal" button. You will be brought to a screen where it wants you to enter your wallet address. Here is an example from the "Toast" website Your address would be the string of random letter and numbers above the barcode. Copy and Paste this into the address bad where I labeled "Your Address Here" USE THIS SCREENSHOT AS A REFERENCE Any withdrawal transaction will also be recorded under "History" under the "Funds" tab. Your coins should now show up in your toast wallet.
Be sure when you are researching a coin to buy to also do some research on what wallets are available and how secure they are. Although there are multi-currency wallets, typically you will have 1 wallet for each different coin.

New Litecoin Wallet: Looking for Alpha Testers

I created a new Electrum Litecoin wallet for iOS & Android (screenshots here: https://imgur.com/a/JTWkJfN) and was wondering if anyone would be interested in getting early access to it as an alpha tester? It'll probably be ready for testing within the next week so if you're interested or have any questions please DM me. Unfortunately, as a solo dev I don't have any monetary incentives to reward testers, but I will gladly add your name/pseudonym to the contributors list within the app.
Wallet Info: It is a non-custodial Electrum wallet for iOS & Android. By default it will select a random Electrum server, but can be pointed to any server that you wish by specifying it in the settings. The app can be secured via pin and/or Face/Touch ID. It currently supports both Bitcoin & Litecoin for Mainnet & Testnet. The app is currently closed source, but will be open-sourced once out of beta.

When will I See My $11,567?

TL/RD
The Mycelium Android Bitcoin wallet app has a feature that lets you "Shift Any Coins to BTC", I did a test transaction to shift 100 USDT to BTC and it worked and I received my funds within a few hours.
Subsequently, I tried using their new "shift" feature with 11,567 USDT (which is USDT I received through working, the only way I can cash it out is by using BTC) and I received absolutely nothing.
It's been more than 2 weeks now and the Mycelium support team has been very unresponsive and seems as if they don't even care about the problem with what little responses they did give me.
I feel like I've been completely scammed out of my money and I have no idea what to do now. Looking for advice, next steps, feedback, etc.

1. Why I was using Mycelium
The Mycelium Bitcoin Wallet is a highly suggested and "trusted" wallet app for android phones. I actually only used the wallet because of reddit posts where people seemed to have a lot of confidence and trust in it and some of the high reviews on the GooglePlay store seemed to confirm that this app might be an OK Wallet to use.

2. "Shift Any Coins to BTC"
This is a feature which is found in the Mycelium Wallet App.

https://preview.redd.it/x4cx4zijj6521.png?width=1440&format=png&auto=webp&s=c4efcf94a83b8b300c83bd8ae32da1ffb219a40c

When this option is pressed, the app will ask which currency you want to "shift." It provides and abundant options of currencies with different addresses depending on which currency you select.
In my case, I wanted to shift USDT.

https://preview.redd.it/b2uemeplj6521.png?width=1440&format=png&auto=webp&s=443db84d4f4005ac2f9d6b5280371465bc71a7d8
After entering the amount, the app will give an estimated amount of BTC you will receive.
When you press "Continue", the app spits out a wallet address to send funds to.

https://preview.redd.it/jnnaifzbk6521.png?width=1440&format=png&auto=webp&s=1d1e0db0283b6be91761fe849bdb269740bb43b1
At this point, the wallet spits out an address to send the USDT to:
1CmLX8m1zBvFagTEB97e57nk3zPiXp1DR4

Because this USDT is money I earned from working, I sent this address to my boss to handle the transaction so I could receive my BTC. (In my country, signing up for most exchanges is a hassle, so this was one of the the options I knew about.)

Notice the app says, "After your transaction is confirmed, your funds will be sent to your receiving account."

Viewing the transaction on explorer, you can see the funds have already been confirmed:
https://omniexplorer.info/address/1CmLX8m1zBvFagTEB97e57nk3zPiXp1DR4

You can see that the funds were sent to the address requested, and then subsequently sent to another address, presumably their "exchange" address.

3. Dealing with MyCelium Support
It was nearly impossible to find any information about this feature on the google play store reviews, etc.
After waiting 3 days or so, I decided to reach out to Mycelium support:

[[[email protected]](mailto:[email protected])](mailto:[[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]))

I sent off an email and didn't get a reply until almost 8 days later. (By that time I had sent off 2 more emails.)

https://preview.redd.it/h06ipre1p6521.png?width=1557&format=png&auto=webp&s=686e4ee046f98eb1a42763c6a7928752dd60b858
Finally received the first response, to which I promptly provided the requested information.
Someone named Aly (no last name) finally responded to my support request.

I had thought that by providing the information, they would have seen the issue and given me some sort of assurance that this is all just a big mistake or that my funds will clear when the "exchange" wallet has enough BTC to fulfill the order.

And I know this was a stretch, but maybe in the back of my mind, I was hoping that somehow they might be able to process a refund for the USDT to my boss, to which point I would just ask him to exchange it for me in his country and send me the BTC direcly.

However, their next response is what really has me in a panic.

https://preview.redd.it/srpltoqyj6521.png?width=1553&format=png&auto=webp&s=99b522daf1bf24a405f21ed6a8b75ef535c8bdc6
That's all?

"That's all"

THAT'S ALL?!?

What does that even mean? "That's All" as in:

"You received 0.023 dollars for your $11,567 transaction, that's all you get bitch!"

OR was it

"That's all, seems like it's not enough, give me a few days to figure this out okay?"

NOPE, probably not the second one as "Aly's" response literally leaves me hanging with nothing to go off of.

It has been almost 5 days and I haven't heard back from them despite sending off more emails to them asking for a resolution.

4. So what now?
Really where do I go from here? Has anyone else experienced problems with the Mycelium support?
What do you make of their email replies?

What am I supposed to do now? This is not a small sum of change (at least for me anyways), is there a lawyer or some authority I can contact to get this resolved?

It really feels like the Mycelium people don't give a damn about me or my problem and I think it's pretty obvious with their short responses and slow response time.

On top of that, you can see that the price has risen since my "shift" request from 3,300 to 3,700. Not only have I not received my $11,567 which I worked almost 3 moths for, but I've also missed out on some epic gains!

What the hell am I supposed to do now? How is this app even legal and why is it still on the GooglePlay store?

Any insights, references, or other contacts to Mycelium would greatly be appreciated. I really don't know where to go from here, the year is ending, holidays are coming up and I've literally worked 3 months to get nothing because the people who made this Bitcoin Wallet don't seem to care.

5. Why Turn to Reddit?
I guess in some ways I feel that posting my struggles publicly may help me get some insight to this issue and also possibly someone else higher on the rank from Mycelium might see this and be able to give me better support than "Aly" was.
I don't like it when people mess with my money and I certainly don't like it when the people responsible act like it's not a big deal or give nonchalant responses. Only in crypto would you ever expect this type of "support" for an amount of money exceeding $10,000.
Even the workers at McDonalds act more sincere when they mess up my $3 order and yeah, that's where I've been eating lately because I don't have my money!

I fee like Mycelium are not taking this issue seriously or in a timely manner, and the fact that our emails and conversation is private only gives them more reason not to care or act with speed. Every response took about 3 - 5 days on average and I haven't even heard from them since the "that's all" email. Did they just decide to mark the situation as "resolved" on ZenDesk or something? WTF is this.
I want to give Mycelium the benefit of the doubt and assume this is not intentional. But I also hope I can expose these scammers if this is indeed a big scam and I just lost 3 - 4 months worth of work because of this.

ADDITIONAL NOTES:
Screenshot of my current transactions

https://preview.redd.it/jasmopo0k6521.png?width=1440&format=png&auto=webp&s=2466e366a59ec4304e0db4a43723e2b1b427710d
As you can see, all I have is the 100 USDT we did a test shift on before.

This is the explorer info for the original USDT test transaction:
https://omniexplorer.info/address/13uoLhxnwvhUoMXeaYLw5QBVFkutNtdK4N

Of course, I take it that the address changes every time you use this feature.

I don't even know where the support staff got the 0.000006 BTC from, it's not even accurate to my wallet info.

Any additional notes feel free to request, if you're wondering who my boss is, I like to keep it confidential, but I am a coder and have done some work on their project and I can't put the responsibility for paying me(again) on his hands because Mycelium is the one who has screwed me out of my money now.

I hope something positive will come of this.

P.S. this is my first time ever getting scammed out of my money in crypto. I literally felt like I needed to make a Reddit account about this because I wasn't getting any support from the Mycelium support team and I don't know what to do now. I think for some people in crypto $11K is nothing, but for me it's literally 3 - 4 months worth of salary... poof, totally gone because of this Bitcoin Wallet app, not even due to exchange rates or BTC crashes!

I thought we could handle this situation professionally via private support emails, but since nobody from Mycelium seems to care, I feel like I need to do something further.

12/20/18 UPDATE:
You guys have been very helpful to narrowing down this issue. I spammed the hell out of Mycelium and Changelly yesterday and magically the transaction has been reversed.

Also like some mysterious coincidence, I checked the Mycelium app again today and it looks like the exchange service was turned off.

I also received some messages from multiple Reddit users who claimed to have helped get in touch with these companies or work for these companies directly, so I can not thank you guys enough for all of your help.

All in all, this was a horrible experience (both with Mycelium customer service as well as the app / exchange not working properly) and I would never recommend the Mycelium wallet to anyone, ever.

Unlike Mycelium, Changelly was actually very prompt and professional with their responses. (in my opinion). While I am happy with Changelly's fast customer service, I am not sure if I would ever recommend or use their service based on this experience, though I don't exactly know how this stuff is processed in the back end, so I don't really know who exactly should be blamed for this.
